The Di Giovanna family has been cultivating organic vineyards for five generations in western Sicily, just outside the town of Sambuca di Sicilia. Brothers Gunther & Klaus manage the family’s 56 hectare estate and winery where their hand crafted wines are made and bottled. Their wines are made exclusively with their estate fruit and all of their vineyards are certified organic since 1997.

Wine Description:
This unique Rosato is made from the native Sicilian Nerello Mascalese grape known for it’s expressive aromatics and spice. The Nerello Mascalese stock was taken by Aurelio Di Giovanna from a 100 year old vineyard in Noto, Eastern Sicily where the vine has it’s origins.

The grapes come from the Miccina & Paradiso vineyards, with yields lowered by 50% with green harvest The grapes were hand picked, maceration on the skins for 12 hours, temperature controlled. Fermentation in stainless steel tank on the fine lees for 3 months, fined and filtered before bottling.

The Rosato di Nerello Mascalese is pale strawberry in color with fragrant notes of violet, bright red cherry and red currants. It is round and soft in texture, with a mineral and refreshing finish.

Food Suggestions:
